If a team has fewer than 5 registered players on game day, they may recruit a substitute from the same or a lower division to start the game; the substitute must leave once regular team members arrive.
Teams can add players throughout the season, but 7 games played are required for playoff eligibility.
Coaching staff or anyone associated with the team can be considered as playoffs eligible as long as they are registered and physically present and involved for up to 7 games throughout the seasons.
Players are responsible to ensure their attendance is recorded on the scoring tablet.
If player is registered at the start but failed to meet the 7 game eligibility due to injury, work/study, rep games or family matters, BSBL will only grant permission if the player circumstances is explained to BSBL administration) – Please contact the BSBL administration team if you have players that fall under this scenario and to manage prior to the playoffs.
Cross division
Division 1: No limit on the number of cross-division players.
Division 2: Up to 3 Division 3 players allowed; no limit on Division 1 players, but a maximum of 3 NBL 1 players per team; No more than 3 Division 1 players on the court at the same time.
Division 3 & 4: Each team may include up to 3 players from different divisions.
Cross-division players can play for a maximum of 2 teams.
Players may play up or down 1 division (e.g., Division 1 cannot play in Division 3 or 4).
Exceptions are allowed only under fair circumstances (e.g., injury), subject to approval by BSBL Admins.
If a player’s game times clash between two divisions, they must choose only one game to participate in and cannot jump between games.
fees
Each registered player must pay a $70 registration fee.
Players participating in two divisions must register with both teams and pay a separate $70 fee for each team.
Weekly game fees are $85 per team.
Division 1 & 2: 22-game season.
Division 3 & 4: 20-game season.
Fees must be fully paid by Week 4 of the season.
BSBL reserves the right to prevent players from participating in future games if fees are not paid.
Teams requiring payment installments should contact BSBL.
Regular season fees do not cover playoff fees; playoff fees are collected separately and apply only to teams that qualify for the playoffs.
Registration and game fees do not include Personal Accident Insurance.
It is the responsibility of each participant to have their own insurance for injury coverage.
BSBL holds third-party public liability insurance only.
Team replacements or changes after the 4th week of each season are at the discretion of BSBL and may be subject to a fee per change.

schedule & forfeit
Schedules are available on the BSBL website or communicated via the team manager message group before game day.
A time change may occur for some teams to complete the round; affected teams will be notified before game day.
If the sporting hall is deemed unsafe (e.g., due to rain or other interruptions), BSBL will call off the game.
Cancelled games will be rescheduled or refunded if rescheduling is not possible.
Teams must notify BSBL at least 24 hours in advance if they intend to forfeit.
If given with late notice (within 24hrs before game), the forfeiting team is responsible for refunding the opposing team’s game fee.
Each team is allowed 1 forfeit per season with early (24-hour) notice for a game fee refund.
After using the 1 early forfeit notification, no further game fee refunds will apply for additional forfeits.
other regulations
FIBA rules are adopted.
As a social league, BSBL has the right to modify the rules for the benefit of the event.
Each team must supply an official for either scoring or shot clock; no dispute will be allowed if a scorer/shot clock is not supplied.
The game clock will stop during the last minute of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters.
The game clock will stop during the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter.
In the 4th quarter, the clock stops both on a referee’s whistle and when a basket is scored.
In the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters, the clock stops only on a referee’s whistle.
If a basket is scored, the game clock does not stop in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters.
BSBL will follow the current FIBA rule of implementing 14/24 s shot clock.
If offensive side regain possession through rebound or a foul etc, 14s shot clock will be reinstated.
1 timeout per half.
Filming of the games are used for entertainment viewing only, and will not be used to overrule a ref call.
Team uniforms/jerseys with visible numbers are compulsory.
No jewellery including piercings.
Players who fail to wear a jersey of their team colour will result in a 5 points addition to the opposition.
If 3 or more players from one team show up with the wrong colour the game counts as a forfeit.
Players without the team jersey but wearing similar colour, colour needs to be closely matched to their team. BSBL admin will adjudicate if the colour is appropriate or a 5 points penalty will be issued.
There is no appeal against the decision of a match official and referee.
Appeals relating to other aspects of play or BSBL rules are adjudicated by BSBL administrators.
Appeals must be submitted in writing by the Team Captain or Manager.
Code of Conduct
Any physical abuse to a referee, club officials, organisers, spectators or players will be dealt with according to the punishment guidelines.
Repeated offenders will be banned from the competition without refund.
Any team/player who displays unreasonable behaviour before, during, or after a competition shall also be penalized according BSBL punishment guideline.
BSBL has a 3 strike policy. Each team involved in a physical or verbal abuse may be handed a strike warning.
Strike warnings are accumulative.
1st strike warning will result in a ban of the player/s involved in the incident. (The length is to be determined by BSBL administration team)
2nd strike warning will result in a ban of the player/s involved in the incident. (The length is to be determined by BSBL administration team)
3rd strike warning will result in a permanent ban of the player/s involved in the incident. Ejections and repeated reports related to unsportsmanlike behaviour of a player that violates the integrity of the game will lead to a 1 game ban for the offending player/s.
Repeated offenses will increase the duration of the ban and can lead to a permanent ban from the competition. Unsportsmanlike conduct refers to behavior that goes against the spirit of fair play, respect, and sportsmanship. It includes actions that are disrespectful, disruptive or harmful to the game, opponents, officials, or spectators.
Players demonstrating physical abuse towards a BSBL referee or a BSBL volunteer will get a direct permanent ban from BSBL without refund.
BSBL administration possesses the right to modify the rules if necessary for the smooth running of BSBL.
Coaches and players should be reminded that the BSBL administrators are volunteers and deserve respect.
